Apply to be a Mentor
What is the Leadership Development Programme?
The Leadership Development Programme focuses on helping to grow young African leaders from grass roots level, to train and inspire them to take their place amongst the leadership of the continent at all levels. It brings young aspiring leaders with the determination to succeed, together with seasoned professionals with years of professional and life experience who can show them how to do it ethically, successfully and have the right kind of impact.
The programme lasts for 6 months and takes place online. Mentors and mentees are expected to meet virtually at least once a month for a minimum of one hour but best results are seen if weekly meetings are held with supportive and encouraging messages in between. This not only helps to establish a good bond between mentor and mentee but also keeps the mentee active, motivated, and not waiting around for answers to their questions which would cause their progress to stall.
We are different to many mentorship programmes because our mentees must satisfy certain entry requirements before they are able to join, in order to ensure that they are committed and competent to work at the level expected. The programme is run like a college/university course with a clearly defined curriculum set for each mentee, regular seminars, and activities set by the mentor to ensure the mentee is applying their learning each week. Participation is also subject to a fixed fee which ensure mentees take their time on the programme seriously.
