Leadership Development Programme

Our programme has been carefully planned to make sure that any committed individual who asks for help to learn how to lead an enterprise or venture as a moral and ethical leader will have our attention and support!

Why we are different

Everywhere you look there are trainers and training resources, whether it’s free on YouTube or it’s available from an expensive training provider. But, a gifting in leadership and the humility needed to be a good leader, is not something that is only given to those who can afford to develop that gift. Let us consider, Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, Barack Obama, Martin Luther King Jr, Mahatma Gandhi.

It is also not something that is easy to develop from a few videos on YouTube. A young leader needs the tailored support of a mentor to show them the ropes, not just talk about them.

What we are not

We are not all theory based!

We believe in teaching the theory but then encouraging mentees to go and apply their knowledge in practice which is why all entrants onto the Leadership Programme must have a venture or enterprise in mind where they will apply their knowledge and gain real skills. Knowledge is one thing but Skill is another and taking action is vital to their development and to growing the confidence needed to lead. Not to mention the encouragement that they acquire from seeing results.

We do not leave anyone alone to fail!

It is very common for learners on the programme to become initially very overwhelmed by the knowledge they are learning and actually lose confidence in the first instance! It comes from a fear of not knowing where to start. That’s why our learners receive their own mentor to help them apply the knowledge in the context of their own situation and venture in a step by step approach. The mentor metaphorically “walks alongside them”, just like a parent would with a child as they learn to walk until the learner is able to do it by themselves and starts to lead. Doing it brings context and confidence.

We do not tell anyone what to do!

We teach knowledge, skills and values of which the most important of those are the values needed to be a true and ethical leader. We, therefore, would never tell our mentees what to do, that would be unethical! They are their own leader and it must come from within. We adopt a coaching style of training to guide people to find the path which is right for them and lead in the way that they feel comfortable.

We do not let people waste their time and money!

We screen all of our applicants carefully to make sure that they are right for the programme. We do not want to waste anyone’s time if this is not for them. Equally we do not want to waste our time if someone is not committed as we are all volunteers. We do not charge for the Leadership Programme so it is available to anyone regardless of background and financial status and is therefore not a waste of any money.

We don’t just talk, we do!

Commitment and action is the difference between a genuine and effective leader and a dreamer playing at leadership enjoying the position and status. We don’t dress true leadership up as anything easy. It is often a difficult road with many ups and downs and we are honest with our mentees about that so as to prepare them as best we can. But leadership is action and this is another reason why we screen our applicants carefully otherwise it becomes all training and no output. We aim to help our mentees see quick and tangible results to encourage them and spur them on for more.
